A new image resource for mining historians in higher education.
HELIX (the Higher Education Library Image Exchange), is a project spearheaded by De Montfort University. HELIX provides on-line access to a vast collection of high quality images for university and college students, lecturers and researchers to use for free in their work.
The resource comprises a number of collections. Two of which currently contain a range of mining images, predominantly 20th century and orientated towards coal mining.
For example -
The Social & Political History of Britain includes two images of Pleasley Colliery at the end of the General Strike in 1926.
'The Pleasley Colliery in Derbyshire, back in operation after the General Strike.' Dated 17th November 1926
'Work recommences at Pleasley Colliery after the General Strike.' Dated circa 1926
